SERVANT – LEADER EXPECTATIONS

Serving is not just a role, it is a reflection of Christ. As servant leaders, we commit to living lives that honor God both PUBLICLY and PRIVATELY.

Matthew 20:26–27 – “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
and whoever wants to be first must be your slave.”
Summary:
Greatness in servant leadership comes through humility – choosing to serve others rather
than seeking recognition.
1st QUESTION: Have you prayed for clarity about your presence and your role here at House
of Gospel?

OUR 3 PILLARS OF SERVING
1. WITNESS
We recognize that as servant leaders, we represent Christ at all times. Not only at the Family
Gatherings, but in our daily lives.
This includes:
● Our speech, actions, attitudes and ATTIRE
● How we treat others
● Our presence on social media and online platforms
● The way we respond in difficult or unseen moments
Matthew 5:16 – “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and
glorify your Father in heaven.”
We commit to living in a way that clearly reflects the Gospel and does not cause confusion or
compromise in our witness.

2. ACCOUNTABILITY
We do not walk alone. As servant leaders, we:
● Welcome accountability from leadership and one another
● Remain teachable and open
● Seek help when struggling rather than hiding

Proverbs 27:17 – “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
We grow stronger as servant leaders when we stay open, accountable, and willing to sharpen one
another.
Hebrews 10:24–25
“We commit to encouraging one another toward love and good deeds, walking in community, and
growing together in Christ.”

3. HUMILITY
As servant leaders, we:
● Remain teachable and open to growth
● Receive guidance and correction with grace
● Serve without seeking recognition
● Reflect the character of Christ in how we lead and follow
Philippians 2:3–4 – “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility
value others above yourselves.”
True servant leadership is marked by humility—putting others first, staying teachable, and
reflecting Christ in every action.

SPIRITUAL COMMITMENT & UNDERSTANDING
1. Be Honest with Yourself — “I need God”
Psalm 139:23–24
We commit to daily self-examination, recognizing our need for God in every area of our lives.
2. Be Honest with God — “I need to repent”
1 John 1:9
We walk in humility and repentance, quickly bringing our sin before the Lord and receiving
His grace.
3. Be Honest with Community — “Healing in confession”
James 5:16
We pursue accountability and authentic relationships, knowing healing happens when we
walk in the light together.

Hebrews 13:17 (NIV): “Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority,
because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their
work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.”
Why we value this: We believe that healthy ministry happens when unity and trust is the
backbone between leaders and volunteers. This commitment to alignment prevents
confusion and ensures that our collective work is productive and life-giving. Creating a
better experience for everyone and a greater impact for the Kingdom.

ADDRESSING CONFLICT & OFFENSE:
Servant-leaders are expected to address concerns in a timely and Christ-centered manner. If
an offense arises with the church or an individual, take the appropriate steps to resolve it
privately and with humility as soon as possible, seeking peace and restoration.
(Colossians 3:13 & Matthew 18:15)
DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN GOSSIP – redirect anyone that tries to speak ill against someone
else.
(Proverbs 16:28, James 4:11)
